If you’ve got enough motivation - like a garage so full of gardening equipment and indispensable odds and ends that you cant stand the thought of trying to fit an automobile into it, you may find yourself heading to the lumber yard and preparing to construct a little out-building behind your house. Yes, a storage shed - one that serves a multitude of purposes for your every need.
It’s a great idea for many people. As a way of gaining storage space, it’s much easier than tacking a new room onto the house. A sturdy, reasonably attractive shed may even raise the property value of the home it compliments. It can help you make enough room in your garage for what it was intended, your car. An entry level builder can complete the project in a few days working solo. And if designed properly, a backyard shed can even serve as a potting shed, home office or secret clubhouse. Besides, conveniently storing your gardening supplies so near to where they’re used will make outdoor work less of a chore.
Buying and assembling a prefabricated storage shed is an option, but the prefab structures out of a kit tend to be boring in appearance and not very durable. Constructing your own provides way more options.
Unlike myself, being somewhat inexperienced and not knowing how to build a shed completely on my own, the seasoned builder can design there own sheds. That can turn out to be somewhat complicated unless you’re familiar with the designing of structures and estimating material needs.
I am not attempting to describe how to build a shed, every step, or all the materials needed to build a shed. I just wanted give a quick overview of the choices and some of the challenges to consider in preparing to build, that i came across as looked into it for my own shed. Here where i found out how to build a shed that was right for my house, along with 14,000 other plans.

Here’s a nice little slant roofed firewood shed. This type is really simple to construct for almost any one. This fire wood shields it from the rain and also helps it dry out rapidly with the open face and slatted walls. For the measurements, material needs, blueprints check out this site.
Stucco your shed and match your home!

Stucco is a very common exterior for homes these days, and for good reason it last for a very long time and looks great if done right. If your interested in matching your shed to your home and your not sure what stucco finish you have on it i gave examples of the most common examples. Sanded, skip, and silica are all good finishes though silica is better looking in my opinion. Is very simple and clean looking but might be a little more pricey to have done and could be challenging to do your self. Witch ever finish you have on your home it would be really sick if you matched your shed to it. This site goes into much more detail about all your options and exactly how to do it.
Roofing for your shed

A very important important part of your shed construction Is the roof you decide to put on it. There are many different types and price ranges to choose from. Some people choose to match it to there house or other buildings close by and some times that’s not practical its entirely up to you. The material choices you have are composite shingles, wood shingles, sheet metal, tile, and slate shingles. There are probably a few more that I’m not aware of but if your interested in finding more information about roofing click here.
Super nice shed

This backdoor shed is so awesome and well crafted. It has sheet metal roofing that will last forever. Stained exterior with a great overhang. The double paned windows and glass paned door make it such a compliment to any home. Obviously this is a little more than the average home owner is willing to get into, but is a great example of customizing your shed to your exact wants and needs. I wouldn’t mind having this shed in my backyard but realistically my needs are met by a shed a little more humble. The best way to build yourself a super nice shed that suits your needs is to obtain some plans here.
